Thank You for checking out Local Music 101. The purpose of the web site is to introduce students and community members to the local music scene.
You will notice links on the left to a couple of music streams. The first stream is a random playlist of all of the music that we have received. The second is a sample of some of the music that I have been listening to lately. This playlist will be updated on a regular basis.
The next section is a list of audio interviews with local musicians. Each month a new interview will be posted.
Next up is my blog. I will be writing about my experiences as a fan of local music in Champaign/Urbana. I can’t play an instrument, can’t sing, and have no expert knowledge in the field of music. As the title says, I am Just a Fan.

Angie Heaton was kind enough to sit down and talk to Rob Lininger about her time in the CU music scene. She was interviewed at Parasol where she works and where you can find the one of the best music selections in the area.
Angie talked to Rob about how she got started and gives some insight into getting signed to a label.
